Yoba workshop at UIRI Kampala 2013

Yoba workshop at UIRI Kampala 2013

The Yoba for life concept is evolving really quickly and for the good. The collaboration between the Yoba for life foundation and the UIRI team is developing perfectly. The new Yoba for life foundation interns Dries Habraken and Barbara van der Biezen are currently in Kampala, Uganda to perform several Yoba tests. During their stay in Uganda they will come up with several new packaging designs and concepts for a brand new Yoba packaging. Their objective is to create flow chart diagrams which enclose all the vital process steps of the Yoba protocols from begin until the final product.

It is vital to find new Yoba yoghurt producing companies in the Uganda region to spread the reach of the Yoba product. That way we can provide more African consumers with healthy pro-biotic yoghurt in the future. The Yoba production will be enlarged and we are proud to the fact that the Yoba product will be available in several supermarkets, kiosks, hospital canteens and university canteens in the nearby future.

During the workshop at UIRI last week the Yoba for life foundation interns Dries Habraken and Barbara van der Biezen came up with a program for several potential yoghurt producing companies. The potential companies participating during this first round of workshops were Grace K Supermarkets, GALP industries ltd, Mabira Estate, Homefresh, UIRI and Z-Plus. During these workshops we provided all kinds of information concerning food safety, safe ingredient use, hygiene standards and ingredient calculations.

The interns of the Yoba for life foundation and the UIRI management lead the presentation about additional ingredients like food coloring and food aromas which are applied in Yoghurt products just like the Yoba product. After the group discussions the potential companies got started on producing fresh Yoba starters and handling Frozen Yoba starters together with the supervision of the UIRI team and the Yoba for life foundation interns. Together they produced a high quality fresh starter, several liters Yoba yoghurt and analyzed it together to determine the final product quality. The workshop was a success and set the standards for future developments around the Yoba product.
